Historic Cannery Row in Monterey, California, is home to the Lab of ecologist Ed Ricketts. The inspiration for many of author John Steinbeck’s “Doc” characters, Ricketts was a marine biology pioneer whose home and Lab became a gathering place for writers and artists. Our exhibit plan gives visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the life and work of this fascinating Cannery Row figure.
